Tamarindo is a small community near the center of Montellano. This community is home to the Makarios School campus and headquarters our Family Empowerment program. As you walk through the narrow paths of the community, you will find it is home to many families. There is a richness of Dominican and Haitian culture represented in this close knit community. Considering Tamarindo is located on the river, flooding is an issue from time to time. There have been several floods that completely covered the community causing devastation to homes and livelihoods.
