Puerto Plata is a municipality of the Dominican Republic, which is located in the province of Puerto Plata. It is one of the most populated cities in the Dominican Republic and the biggest city on the north coast of the country. Puerto Plata is also the only city in the Dominican Republic where a large percentage of its population uses English as a second language both to communicate and to use it in the workplace. The official language in the Dominican Republic is Spanish. Puerto Plata's economy is based on agriculture, industry, and tourism.
