The purpose of Group Ministry is to produce mission-minded Christ followers who are inspired to serve locally and globally. The heart behind Group Ministry is much more than a week long trip. We hope to provide opportunities to experience God in new and fresh ways that will impact lives, both in the Dominican Republic and the United States.

Hear what others are saying about their experiences with Makarios:
"I absolutely loved every second I spent serving with Makarios. I especially loved witnessing the love for Christ that the missionaries and the staff of Makarios have. On our first day there we got to go to church and during the worship part of the service I looked around and saw everyone in the room singing, praising, and falling more in love with our great God. Even though the songs were in Spanish and I did not understand a word, I could feel the presence of God and realized that this was what Heaven was going to be like, every nation, tribe, and tongue worshiping the same God. It was amazing. I got to spend a day observing the second grade classroom, and as a fourth grade teacher, I loved getting to learn from teachers who are teaching in a totally different part of the world. I loved seeing how they used scriptures to help teach subjects like reading and writing. I also learned that they used the Word of God to help discipline the children, so they can discern whether or not their behavior is in line with how God calls us to act, and I thought that was incredible. "One of the most touching moments for me was during our village outreach in Pancho Mateo. The team left to spend a few hours at the Mak House, and upon our return, the little girl I had been playing with all morning ran up to me and pulled a bottle of nail polish out of her pocket. I was shocked, sure this was something she wouldn't usually have. Due to my broken Spanish, she showed me that she wanted to paint MY nails, and she did so - beautifully. I was so touched - we had come to bless villagers, and instead, this little girl was blessing me. She shared one of her most valuable possessions freely. It made me realize how generous the Dominicans are with so little, and how often we as Americans fail to be generous with so much. Convicting and humbling! "

"I absolutely loved my experience in the DR with Makarios. I loved being a part of the ministry Makarios is doing in the DR, seeing the needs of the children being met at the school, and showing them the love of Christ. I loved being able to see people like Francis who had once been children of Makarios now working for the school sharing the Gospel. The best part of my trip was being able to get involved with the children and getting to know them on a personal level. It was so awesome that I got to know Ricardo before I even knew he needed a sponsor. I was so thrilled by what Makarios was doing I hopped on the first opportunity to sponsor Ricardo halfway through my trip. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to meet/get to know Ricardo and I really look forward to getting
to spend more time with him on my next trip. "
