THANK YOU FOR PRAYING!

Dear Makarios Family,

We were prepared for a night of destruction, but we were praying for a miracle. As the worst part of the storm has passed, it has become obvious that we were not alone in our prayers. The hurricane moved north just enough to keep us from what would have been inevitable damage. We wanted to say thank you, sincerely. Our staff, our students, and the families we love are safe, and the name of the Lord has been made greater. Our hearts are flooded with gratitude, and we wanted to share just some of what's been flooding our inbox.
We are praying constantly for all of you as this storm approaches. We know that God is in control and are trusting that he will preserve the school and Mak house. We pray that this situation brings the good news of the HOPE we have in our Lord to the community. We are praying for the safety of all the students and staff and their families.
Love, the Jenkins

I have followed the stories of Makarios for years. My heart goes out to all of you during this scary time. My prayer is for safety for all, as you endure this storm. Hold tight to your Anchor!
Sue K.

Pray for safety for students and staff, and that God's love and grace, and the love of their fellow believers would be experienced through this
David D.

I pray that all the families and individuals in the Dominican Republic remain safe and unharmed. I pray that God is looking over each and everyone of you. I visited Makarios this past summer for a mission trip and all the people there have the most hope I have ever seen, and I pray that they are able to remain hopeful and keep their heads up.
Sarah M.

Praying PS 91 over you all! May God protect you all!
Melissa B.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though it's waters roar and foam... The Lord of hosts is with us" and you all are in our prayers.
Susie F.

That God would calm the storm, send it swiftly past the communities in the DR with little rain and wind, that the children, families, and staff would have a blanket of protection and safekeeping over them. That they would know they are deeply loved and cared for many miles away.
Laura

Lord God, during this mighty storm, please take care of our friends in the DR and let them see evidence of Your great love and strength throughout this ordeal. Thank you in advance for all you're about to do in and through their lives.
Jeff and Teri W.

May the lord protect and guard all of us during this difficult time
Mario Luis Quijada M.

Praying for God to provide in all ways. May he be seen in the midst of this storm.
Debbie
That you all stay safe and protected during this hurricane. God bless you!
Connie D.

We are praying for His peace as you prepare, His clarity/guidance in all of your preparations, and to use even this for His glory and good that we cannot see now. God is able to do more than we can even imagine through HIs Spirit in us; may this be a reality for all of you.
In His Love, Marlyn & Clark S. (Juliet Miller's grandparents)

Praying for God's provision and protection over you as you face this storm. We serve a Mighty God, and my prayer is that He will calm the waters that surround you. Also praying for all those sweet children, that they are protected and held in His hand, along with their families. Thank you for all you do to love and serve them. In His Name.
Leslie G.

Lord I pray your hand of protection on the Makarios family and all in the path of this hurricane. May they all find shelter and safety. May u give them a calmness and peace as they feel your presence. God Bless In Jesus Name Amen
Linda M.

Praying for all of you down there!
Whitney S.

We are friends of the Sawyer's, and lived in Jarabacoa for a couple of years. Praying for you as you prepare, physically and spiritually, for the storm. Praying that peace will be everywhere around you, and a hedge of protection will surround your community. Dios te bendiga!
Kate

Praying for my Makarios friends and family for their safety. Love you all :)
Dena

To the residents of the Dominican Republic, May God protect and comfort you during this difficult time. We know that He will provide for all your needs. In Jesus Name, Amen
Melinda O.

Praying God has a protective shield over all of your safety. That He wipes away fears and uses this time to strengthen your community. Much love my friends.
Issa

Praying for the safety of your staff, students, their families and the communities you serve.

Praying for all of you

Psalm 138
Jean S.

Lord first of all you are in control & no power on earth is stronger than you. You are the Creator of the wind and the waves & they know you by name. Be with your people & provide them with a hedge of protection and bless them with the supplies they need to glorify and praise you in the storm and after it is over. Thank you for Your Mak family, & for my cousins the Lehr family. Show them your glory Lord, & bless & protect them.
Cathy B.

I pray for your safety thru this very trying time. We are asking God for all blessing and we pray this in the name of Jesus Christ.
LAWRENCE J.

We met for our first meeting today in preparation for our Thanksgiving trip. At the time of our meeting ,the Hurricane was 75 miles off of Puerta Plata's coast. We lifted you before the Lord asking for the safety of all your staff, students and families in the area. May God grant you refuge and strength during this time, and may His hand cover everyone with protection!

The Bannockburn Team is praying fervently for Makarios at this time. We are praying for Makarios leadership, families and ministry in the DR for such a time as this (and for the LORD to divert Hurricane Irma): "LORD, You alone are Makarios' refuge and strength, and will prove to be a very present help in this time of trouble. 2 Therefore none of the Makarios Team will fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling, because You have said - be still and know that I am God." "We are trusting in Your goodness, you are their strength and shield. Our hearts trust in You knowing they are helped."
Steve & Susan P.

As the weather permits us to venture out and assess any damage, we will continue to keep you updated. As we move forward, please join us in praying for those who will face the storm in the coming days.
